For so many investing in the real estate industry as a second home is generally based around what type of ROI are you going to make on the property.
Whether it be a holiday that you use as a vacation just for family or friends or renting out on the Airbnb or VRBO portal.
But investing in the real estate market in Italy offers not only that but so much more, let me tell you why.
I have lived in this beautiful country for nearly a decade and the amount of positive life changes I have experienced really is priceless.
Let’s set the scene shall we?
Perhaps, you, like me, come from the corporate world. Extremely long working hours, an abundance of pressure and as a woman, perhaps competing with your male colleagues and living in your masculine energy just so you can fit the part.
It is for some women, so exhausting, and it takes its toll on our bodies, not only mentally but physically.
This is where I was at back in 2014 after nearly 15 years working in the financial planning and banking industries. I knew that I wanted more. A change of lifestyle, a slower pace, immersing myself into a different culture and all the intricacies that come with that.
In my “job” which is to consult foreign investors on purchasing property in Italy, namely for investment purposes I love to dig deep with my clients as to why they want to purchase a property in Italy.

Most people respond that they do not even look at this potential purchase from a perspective of making a huge ROI, they just want to have a bolt hole in a beautiful country where they can switch off from their day to day and immerse themselves into Italian culture.
Going to the weekly markets, purchasing fresh seasonal produce, relaxing during “aperitivo” hour(s!) and long lunches and dinners with friends or family.
Slow Living – il dolce far niente
Italy is famous for its “slow living” (vita lenta) and the famous phrase “il dolce far niente” is widely known around the world but for most, do not put this into practice into our day to day lives.
We as society are constantly under pressure to be on the go. Deadlines, commutes, frantic working hours and little time to really switch off, relax and enjoy the little things in life, which really are the best as cliched as that sounds.
I can’t tell you how many clients of mine that have purchased property in Italy, that revel in the time they come here and stay in their second home, how much they relish every single moment of their trip.
It gives them a refuge for their soul, a chance to totally switch off from their “normal” world, to recharge their batteries not only physically but mentally.
As someone who spent a week in hospital on a morphine drip from extreme stress during my time in the corporate world I can resonate on so many levels with their sentiments.
The sadness they feel when having to leave their “home” in Italy. Because Italy has that magical effect on so many that when they touch down they feel like they are home, it is their calling, even if many like myself, do not have Italian heritage.
Investing into a little piece of Italian real estate paradise can not only generate you an income as a potential holiday rental but it regenerates your entire nervous system, which really holds no price tag.
Remember when you are buying a property in Italy you are not buying bricks and mortar.

You are buying into a home that has fed families throughout the decades and centuries where traditions were and still are so strong.
Family values that have stood the test of time.
Isn’t it time that you gave your soul the ROI it is searching for?
